Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary starts in Salta La Linda. This beautiful north city is located in the Lerma Valley, at the foot of San Bernardo Hill, it is the main city and gateway to the Argentine Northwest Region. It was founded by the Spanish in 1582, it retains the only architectural style that was not copied from Europe, the American Baroque. Its main square is surrounded by the main buildings such as cathedrals, San Francisco and Santo Domingo. Salta also has important museums with archaeological exhibitions of world relevance. Its cultural shows, diversity of peñas, restaurants and tourist services make the visitor experience to this beautiful city unforgettable.
Day 1: Arriving to Salta La Linda
The first day of your Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary you will arrive to Salta La Linda. Once you arrive you will feel at each step both colonial history and a strong Andean culture. Your local guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to your exclusive accommodation, House of Jasmines, an exclusive estancia, with an elegant 100-year-old mansion, where everything was designed to offer guests complete relaxation. After checking in, you can enjoy the place an relax, take a horse ride to know the surrounds or go for a walk to shore of the river. In the evening enjoy the sunset tasting the best local wines, accompanied by local cured meats.
Day 2: Explore Salta
Today you will enjoy the breakfast and sunrise in your wonderful country accommodation, take your time to fully feel the nature and the relaxing atmosphere. When you decide the local guide will pick you up to show you best attractions of Salta La Linda, to discover more of this Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary. You will visit the historic city center, the main square, the Cabildo, you will visit the Museo de Arqueología de Alta Montaña, which presents exhibitions dedicated to pre-colonial culture and the famous Llullaillaco Children, three Incas children mummies that were discovered on top of Llullaillaco in 1999. At midday go to visit one of the city restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine. After lunch and visiting the historic city center you will continue exploring taking the telesphere to ascend to the top of San Bernardo Hill to admire the wonderful panoramic view from the view point.
In the evening you have to taste the delicious local food or go to the local peñas to enjoy the folkloric music and dance. And after a glass of wine, you will probably join in for dancing!

Calchaqui Valleys

- Five days Exploring the Calchaqui Valleys
Today you will continue the Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary taking five days to explore the Calchaquis Valleys. This area will surprise you because of the vastness of its wonderful valleys, you will follow routes through pronounced gorges, dotted with local flora and fauna, Inca history vestiges, enchanting quiet villages, antique churches and interesting museums.
Day 3: Los Cardones Nationl Park, Cahi and La Paya
Have breakfast and pack your luggage to continue discovering this Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary, today you have a different accommodation. You will start traveling to the southwest to the fantastic Calchaqui Valleys accompanied by your local guide. Start the adventure visiting the two first gorges the Laures and Escoipe, then the landscape begins to change little by little until you approach to the Cuesta del Obispo (Bishop Slope), a 20-kilometer stretch of zigzag of provincial route No. 33 that reaches its maximum height of 3620 meters in Piedra del Molino. The landscape that accompanies this winding road is spectacular and from the top you will be able to appreciate an incredible panoramic view of the valley.
Los Cardones National Park, a cactus and cardon desert that was declared a protected area to promote its preservation over time, is crossed by the Recta del Tin Tin a perfect straight line upon which the route was built. It is so perfect that is difficult to achieve with the technology we have nowadays, but according to anthropological and historiographic studies, it was constructed in an artisanal way by the original peoples that inhabited the area. You will make a stop to visit the area and take some pictures of the huge cactis.
You will continue the way to Cachi, a small town in of Spanish and native traditions forms the most beautiful architecture. Once in Cachi you will have some free time to have lunch. Then continue exploring the valleys and visit the beautiful mountain village of Molinos where you will spend the night. Explore the town with your guide and go to your exclusive accommodation to relax after a wonderful day exploring the Calchaqui Valleys.
Day 4: Molinos, Colomé Wineyard
The third day of our Luxury Argentina Northwest adventure go to visit Colomé Wineyard. The passion, persistence and relentless determination to plant the highest vineyard in the world led Donald Hess to the Salta region, Argentina, where he planted Malbec on a farm he called Maximum Height. Tour the winery and enjoy lunch at the vineyard’s superb restaurant.
In the afternoon, take time to visit the on-site museum. Among the vineyards located at the highest altitude in the world in the Calchaquí Valley, the only museum dedicated exclusively to the work of the prestigious American artist James Turrell stands. It belongs to The Hess Art Collection and opened in 2009. It is located on the grounds, next to the Winery and the Founder’s House. Wine and art are closely linked.
In the afternoon come back to the hotel to relax and prepare to the next day. Is time to pack your luggage again!

Day 6: More of Cafayae Wineries
On the sixth day of Luxury Argentina Northwest adventure take a relax morning in your accommodation, enjoying this fantastic place. In the afternoon let’s take a look to another winery and wineyard. Enjoy a relaxing day touring the El Porvenir wineyard to try the best Cafayate wines and learn about their production process.
Day 7: De Las Conchas Gorge
Today you’ll leave Cafayate and to immerse accompanied by your local guide, into the forbidding of Las Conchas Gorge, a wonderful lanscaped where the erosion has carved fascinating red shapes into the rocks. Go to visit this Natural Reserve to enjoy the views of its colorful hills and discover the most particular rocky highlights: the Frog, Obelisk the Castles, Amphitheater and the famous Devil’s Throat. Day 9: Humahuaca Gorge
The last but not less exiting day of our Luxury Argentina Northwest itinerary. Continue your trip traveling north to Jujuy Province to explore the beautiful mountain valley landscape of the Humahuaca Gorge and the impressive colourful mountain range during all the way. Humahuaca Gorge is dotted with a bunch of amazing attractions such us the Cerro de los Siete Colores (Seven Color Hill) in Purmarca, the Pucará de Tilcara, a dilapidated but well restored pre-Incan native fortress and the Cerro Paleta del Pintor (Painter Palette Hill) at Maimará village. You will also visit the small town of Uquía to see 17th-century paintings by indigenous students of the Cuzco School called Cusqueñas Paintings and the little Uquía Church. Then you will pass through Huacalera, and while crossing the Tropic of Capricorn road, admire the multicolored La Pollera de la Coya Hill.
Finally, you reach the picturesque Humahuaca and enjoy its colorful narrow streets, handcraft markets and typical local food. You will make different stops on the way to Humahuaca and back, finishing the day in Purmamarca, where you will spend the night. You can spend the evening enjoying beautiful the view of the Seven Colors Hill and visiting the main square and its colorful handcraft faire.
